About The Cleanse

  • 1.  How many days of cleanse should i go for?keyboard_arrow_down
This is a very personal decision. If you have never cleansed before, we recommend that you start with a 1-day cleanse and work your way up. A 1-day cleanse is a quick strategy to strengthen your immune system by giving your body a rest from one day of stopping solid food intake, and getting all the goodness of our cold pressed juices for the day. If you already live a nearly raw, vegan lifestyle or have cleansed before, a 5-day cleanse gives you four extra days, that’s 80% more cleansing time. You reap more benefits the longer you cleanse.
  • 2.   How often should I cleanse?keyboard_arrow_down
A good rule of thumb is whenever you experience any of the following: fatigue/general lack of energy, sleeplessness, anxiety/depression, digestive problems, at the first sign of a cold and of course, before and after holidays or any special events that lead to overindulging. We recommend doing a cleanse once a month for at least three days. This allows your body to acquire the proper rest and recovery time it needs to maintain optimum health.
  • 3.   What if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding? Can I still go on a cleanse?keyboard_arrow_down
Please consult with your doctor. Our recommendation is no as our juices are unpasteurized to retain all of their live enzymes and phytonutrients and therefore may not be suitable during your pregnancy. We do not recommend breastfeeding mums to go for a full Juice Cleanse program as the calories from the juices are not enough to meet the daily requirements of a lactating mum. What we do recommend is that you can consume the juices as a supplement drink to your normal diet. Which means you will still eat as per normal and can take in the juices anytime, without having to stick to a schedule or sequence. The nutrients from the juices are actually good for the baby too!
  • 4.   Can I cleanse if I have a medical issue?keyboard_arrow_down
Please consult with your doctor if you have any medical issues or if you are on any medications.
  • 5.   Can I still drink the juices if I am feeling unwell?keyboard_arrow_down
Yes, you can still consume the juices in form of supplement to your usual diet. However, if you want to do a cleanse programme, we would advise you to incorporate light meals such as lightly steamed vegetables, porridge, bone broths and nuts on top of our cold-pressed juices. This will yield optimal cleansing results while supporting recovery.
  • 6.   Where do I get my protein?keyboard_arrow_down
Greens have an amazing amount of protein. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and they are in all fruits and vegetables. Plus, you’ll be receiving extra protein from our Nut Milk beverage.
  • 7.   There is no fiber in the juices. Isn’t fiber good for me?keyboard_arrow_down
Fiber is best known for its ability to prevent or relieve constipation but when the body must work to separate out nutrients from fiber, there is an energy expenditure that is significant. For our cleansing purposes, we want to reduce this burden as much as possible so that we can give the body and digestive tract a break from having to break down solid food – so that the saved energy can be transferred to cleansing processes. The juices still contain minimum amount of soluble fibre which plays a role in balancing blood sugar level.
  • 8.   What if I’m hungry?keyboard_arrow_down
If you really have the urge to eat, we ask you to fight it! (Or if you have our Nut Milk in your program, sip it slowly during the times you feel the urge to eat. If you really need to cheat, try to keep it to raw fresh vegetables and fruits).
  • 9.   How much weight will I lose? Will I gain it back?keyboard_arrow_down
Remember, this is a nutritional cleanse (think health gain) designed to give your digestive system a rest and therefore allow your body to focus on eliminating toxins. Many people do lose weight, but you should consider it as a bonus side effect. If you’re already slim and eating well you may not lose much weight. Others who are (even slightly) overweight and are transitioning from a highly processed, low-nutrient diet may lose a couple of kilograms during the cleanse. Hopefully, our HIC Juice Cleanse programs will make you think about what you put in your mouth daily. If you begin your cleanse with the mindset that this is your ‘reboot’ button and maintain a whole foods and natural produce based alkaline diet, you will keep the weight off, and maintain your ‘cleansing glow’!
  • 10.   Can I exercise?keyboard_arrow_down
Working up a light sweat is an awesome way to get rid of toxins from your body. But remember to listen to your body, and exercise at a pace that suit your body’s energy levels during the cleanse.
  • 11.   Can I continue to take supplements during the cleanse?keyboard_arrow_down
We suggest giving all that a rest during your cleanse. If you are on something specific from your doctor or nutritionist, then by all means continue.
  • 12.   What about coffee, teas and alcohol?keyboard_arrow_down
We recommend avoiding all of these acid-forming drinks to get the best out of your cleanse. However, if you cannot give up coffee for a day, and decide that you are not going to cleanse solely because of it, we say cleanse and drink coffee. There are however some other alternative stimulants which are less harsh on your body like herbal tea and green tea. Maybe try these out to ease your cravings and see how it all goes.
  • 13.   Do I have to follow the order of the drinks? Can I skip some?keyboard_arrow_down
Please do! The drinks are ordered for your body to best absorb the nutrients. That said, if you need to improvise – like take half of your Nut Milk beverage in the morning instead of at night or if you accidentally bring the wrong bottles to work – go easy on yourself! You are still consuming all of that goodness. However, we encourage you to finish all of the beverages, if possible. But we also ask that you follow what your body is telling you to do. It is not advisable to force anything.
  • 14.   I think I’m constipated, is this normal?keyboard_arrow_down
This or the opposite are quite normal side effects of the cleanse. Reduced input also means reduced output. Do drink more water and incorporate some light exercise such as leg lifts, slow jog to help faciliate your bowel movement.
  • 15.   What are the detox symptoms?keyboard_arrow_down
There are some standard cleansing symptoms to be aware of: headaches, dizziness, general aches and pains, low-grade fever, skin rashes and breakouts, and mood swings. Your body is working to tear down all the “bad stuff” and rid the toxins. If you feel feverish or start vomiting during your cleanse, it could be that your body is working harder than usual to eliminate the toxins and wastes out of your system. The more toxins there are to excrete, the more severe the symptoms would be. To ease any discomfort, drink plenty of water to help flush the toxins out of your system and speed along the cleansing. These symptoms are temporary and may pass within 1-3 days, however, if it persists, do seek doctor's advice. Once these “bad stuff” leave your system, believe us, you will feel a whole new level of brightness, shine and happiness!
  • 16.   Can I freeze or heat up my juice?keyboard_arrow_down
It is not advisable to freeze or heat up our juices. As our juices are raw and cold-pressed, the heat generated from heating them up will kill off active ingredients and live enzymes (which are the good stuff!). If you find that the juices are too cold, you may consider leaving the juices to sit outside for 10 minutes before drinking. Also, our juices are all stored in glass bottles that will crack when freeze. But if you are on a soup cleanse, you can choose to have it chilled or warm it up in a hot water bath.
  • 18.   Can I customise my cleanse?keyboard_arrow_down
Yes, you can go for our bespoke cleanse and select the juices of your choice according to our guidelines and pre-selected categories.
